Well, I’m back! And my, oh my how I’ve missed this thing.
It’s been nearly 2 years since I’ve posted anything and I truly can’t believe
it. To say my life has changed would be the understatement of the century; I
suppose transformed is a much better word for it. I am two years smarter and
more experienced, which means I’ve learned from the mistakes of my last few
posts. I have reread my blog over and over again and struggle to not cringe in embarrassment;
I can’t believe I actually wrote those. All the spelling errors and improper
grammar, I couldn’t imagine someone who just graduated high school actually
thought that was okay. But fortunately, I’m not here to talk about how ditzy I
was at 19, I’m here to talk about TV, so let’s get this thing going.
Let’s start with the MTV Movie Awards, which came on Sunday
night. I’ve taken a non-bashing vow so I’m going to try to be polite as I can.
Let’s just say the adjective I would attach to this show was “sub-par.” It just
seemed to be full of non-sense categories and awkward speeches, especially any
speech involving Kristen Stewart. Sometimes I feel bad for her because of how
unusual she is, it just seems like she lacks a personality all-around, in her
appearances, in her acting roles, everywhere. I’m still amazed at how
successful she has become. I’m not sure if they got a little bit lazy in the
planning process for this year but this show lacked a sense of professionalism.
There was no excitement, no je ne se quoi quality to this show. I knew it was
below standards when no one fought to have it saved on the DVR after it was
finished. My sister asked if we should just delete it and there was a unanimous
“yes,” from everyone in the room. I’m the type of person that will keep an
awards show on the DVR just to watch the musical performances over and over
again. I still remember when Rihanna opened the AMA’s a couple years ago, I
watched it so often I knew the choreography by heart (I wish I was joking). But
not this year, Fun was overrated, Wiz Khalifa was blah and honestly, I don’t
remember any other performances, which is kinda sad. Even the nominee entry
scenes were strange. The whole thing, I just didn’t get it.
Another big deal tonight was Real Housewives of New Jersey,
which I’m beginning to be over. I feel like I have a loyalty to this show
because I’m a fellow Jersey girl but I’m not so sure how much more I can take.
I almost forgot to watch this week, probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t preset
to record every week on my DVR. I just think there’s no need for the hysterics
every week, and Teresa’s feud with her brother and Melissa is getting really
old, really fast. Last season it was heartbreaking, but now it’s just becoming
tiresome. I have to admit I never saw this coming but maybe this show has
outrun its course. I think no matter what this show will always have loyal fans
but I can’t say that I will be one of them. We’ll just have to wait and see
where the show takes us in the next few episodes. I do know one thing, I see a
tornado in the near future, and that’s one storm I can’t miss.
I wanna talk briefly about a show that I can officially add
to my weekly addiction list, this new show on HBO called Girls. I don’t want to
go too in depth because I don’t want this to become a research paper, but this
is a great show! I wouldn’t say this if I didn’t believe it but I think this
could be the next Sex and the City, maybe even better. The story lines remind
me of why I so desperately want to live in New York City, if only for a few
months. There’s a liveliness that’s infectious and unmatched, which is apparent
in this show. It seems so real, so relatable. If you’re out of high school and
trying to sort your way through life, there’s a character in this show you can
connect with. I think I’m every character, depending on the kind of day I’m
having. I do have to say though, this is definitely an HBO show. There’s no
limit to how far this show will go to prove its point, I am 21 and I was a tad
disturbed by some of the content in this show, but then again, what else is
new? I am hardly the normal 21 year old, I’m what they like to call 21 going on
60, and unfortunately they are correct. My only suggestion, watch for yourself,
you may think this is sugar-coated; I wouldn’t be surprised one bit. So much
for talking briefly, right?
Tomorrow I get to talk about the season premiere of Real
Housewives of New York, which is still my favorite, and the Basketball wives,
which I’ve already got at least a paragraph to discuss at the top of my head.
Until then, Tata!
